Lanipō presents Poʻe Hōkū, a series of original, ʻohe kāpala prints on handmade hau paper. This series is inspired by the movement of stars and ocean.
Kanaka Hawaiʻi have an incredible tradition of celestial navigation that provides precision and accuracy in long-distance voyaging. By carefully observing natural elements, Kanaka Hawaiʻi developed exceptional wayfinding methods that continue to connect people and places across our ocean, Moananuiākea.
Sourced and made on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, this series features ʻalaea (red ocherous earth) and ʻohe kāpala (bamboo stamps) printed on archival, handmade hau paper. Packaged with a bright white backing board in a clear, acid-free, protective art sleeve.
